Intermission
Funded by Arts Council England
Intermission is an experimental collaboration exploring how the experience of viewing painting can be enhanced and extended through sound, structure, and performance.
The work features folding wooden frames used to display paintings, objects, and draped fabrics — stand-ins for exuberant painterly gestures.
Accompanying soundscapes, created by musician and sound artist Keith Angel, are experienced through speakers and personal headsets.
Met with curiosity, delight and occasional bewilderment, Intermission appeared like a travelling circus — adaptable, fleeting, and ever-changing — before disappearing as quietly as it arrived.
