About

Born in Hull in 1971, Jayne Cooper is an artist, performer, and educator whose creative practice is grounded in painting.

Exploring the dynamic exchange between image and object, she employs a fluid, collage-like approach that spans painting, object-making, performance, and the exploration of alternative ways to present work to audiences.

Her work often carries a playful undertone of indiscretion and fantasy, engaging with themes of ritual, female transgression, and desire.

Jayne lives and works in Louth, Lincolnshire, where she is the founder and director of Queen Street Studios — an artist-led, multipurpose space dedicated to collaborative making, sharing, and exhibition.

The first and second floor rooms of this former sweet factory have been the home to Jayne’s practice since 2015.

The studios are also available to hire — for exhibitions, events, meetings, or as creative workspaces — offered at accessible, non-profit rates to help nurture artistic practice.
